Some great ducting today and this evening, PBN188 picked up at 485nm or 898km (the plot way east of NATLI) heading for Auckland probably.

I was looking at this link earlier this evening Stephen, and Saturday is looking pretty good, with some Intense and Very Intense to my north east.

Just checked the plots again, and there was another one at 496nm or 918km.

According to the Tropospheric Ducting forecast, Saturday should be very good, and a quick check this evening showed that things are already improving from the normal conditions of the past few days. PBN79 from Brisbane to Auckland (the small white circle at 60degrees) was showing up at 456.7nm (845.8km).

Tropospheric Ducting forecast for Saturday late afternoon and evening from William Hepburn.

It will be Strong to Intense out to the Northeast from Sydney.

I've seen ducts open up all the way to New Zealand. When this happened you could get TVNZ from Auckland on VHF.

Not a lot of longer range ducting pickups today, however there was one nice one at 513.4nm (951.4Km out in the red circle). From the Hepburn charts, Saturday evening should be really good - looking for that elusive 1000Km.

The flight looks to be :-

89611C UAE435 NZAA-YBBN-OMDB A6-ECU B773 Emirates 2012/11/30 18:02:51
