Default Hong Kong Engine failure - Qantas

Hi all,

Does anyone know about a take off roll engine failure on a QF flight departing Hong Kong, I have a colleage who was on that flight and apparently they were able to pull up with minimal runway left. Seems he is stuck there with no luggage, ( it may still be aboard?) for an engine change, and no other seats available.

per HK Board, QF 030 was operated by B747-400 (Reg VH-OJF) and lined up runway 07R at about 10:14 local time, ready to depart for Melbourne. Just before rotation, a loud sound was heard. Full reverser and break were applied for the full stop.

photo from the HK Board, with thanks
