Hijacker forces plane to land

April 08, 2008

A HIJACKER forced a passenger plane to make an emergency landing in Bangkok today, media reports said.

The hijacker, a Malay national, has been taken into custody at Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport, the Bangkok Post reported.

Earlier media reports said there had been a fight onboard the plane and that was the reason for the emergency landing.

But Airports of Thailand President, AM Chana U-sathaporn, confirmed in a television interview that there had been a hijacking.

The plane reportedly had between 40 and 50 passengers onboard.
