Smile some old photos of YSSY & others

Recently I had over 1,000 slides taken by my late father converted to digital.

A number have an airport theme, and some examples now follow. All were taken in the 1950s & 1960s.

I have not had time yet to get them cleaned etc

Various snaps at YSSY, note lack of security

QF Constellation at HNL + my dad, a QF crew walking off an A380 today would look the same.

QF 707 landing at Jakarta

A TWA advert in downtown New York

Unfortunately this slide failed, was on QF1, MEL-SYD, 747-200 F class upstairs taken by me in December 1975

Nice photos Andrew! Always amazing to see how things have changed so much in such a short time. What is the airline livery on the DC3 and Fokker F-27 in a couple of photos - looks like it has Aussie flag on tail and "TWA" or "IWA"????

Also I love the NY TWA Advert - imagine how cool it would be to have that giant model of the Constellation in your garage today!

Did you notice the P51 parked next to the DC3 near the fire station?

EWA - East West Airlines "The Country Airline" based in Tamworth NSW.

The P51 could be VH-FCB which was owned by Chris Braun who was a EWA captain. Or it could be one of Illawarra Flying School's two P51 (VH-BOY or VH-BOZ) that was contracted to do target towing for the radar control AA guns off the NSW coast.

Then on the other hand I could be 100% wrong put down to a senior's moment.

They are great pics Andrew. Thank you for sharing them. I remember well standing at the fence adjacent to the old Ansett terminal with my father and grandfather and being enthralled by the sight, sound and smell of the Electras and Viscounts. I'd almost forgotten about the great viewing deck on the old TAA terminal till I saw one of your pics.
