Default EK405 diversion to YBAS

EK405 (MEL-SIN) B77W A6-ECW just turned around over Ayres Rock diverting to Alice with medical emergency. Tower controller at Alice has been recalled given that it's currently class G airspace...

Interesting note is that the main runway here (12/30) is closed for lighting work each night - interesting to see how this pans out . . . . .

Landed safely - tower controller was recalled and runway was re-opened, but they couldn't raise the RFF crews. Current ETD around 1230z

RFF is the Rescue Fire Fighters ... Airservices Fireies.

they've got them on standby for the departure, they just couldn't get tehm out of bed in time for the arrival ;-)
