Default Emirates flight makes emergency landing in Perth

Perth radio 6PR claim that EK425 A340 turns back to Perth this morning (16th Oct) after "smoke seen escaping from cabin".

If i was emirates i'd be more concerned about this

What's the problem? Surely it's better if the smoke escapes the cabin than hangs around to be a nuisance!

That can't be economically viable!

Thats the way it is at the moment Cathay out of MEL most flights ATM are between 150 and 200 pax.

At least they are using A330's...ek are using A345's..dont envy that fuel bill!

Do we have a rego for this aircraft? Do they use A340 -300`s or 500`s

It's a A340-500.

Saw a glimpse of it on the news and it looked like -ERB.

A6-ERB, on the news footage tonight there was some smoke coming from the fwd cargo hold.
