NZ also don't through check the bags unless on the same PNR, regardless of if the flight is on STAR.

When I went to the UK with SAS (QF to NRT) I had my bags checked ALL the way through to MAN. Checked in Syd, did not see them in NRT or CPH and collected them in MAN! It was terribly easy...

Were all of those flights booked on the one ticket or were they on separate tickets?

Going on memory... I think it was two! QF to NRT and then SAS to MAN via CPH.

I know that there is an agreement between SAS & QF but at least SAS & SQ are alliance partners!

Thanks for all your replies.

The main reason why I am asking is that I am trying do decide how much time we need at LHR:
We arrive 05.45 with SQ.
We can leave at 07.00 or 10.35 with SAS.

I know its crazy to even consider 07.00, but with 3 tired kids its so tempting.

It seems this SQ flight often lands earlier, around 05.30 and SQ+SAS are the same in terminal......

Still, I think may be we have to pass security etc, so even if we dont have to collect any bags.

What do you think???? (How much time do we need without luggage?)

Add AC to that list as well. Same ticket through-check only.
Like the drop in weight limit on the Piece system from 32kg to 23kg by almost all airlines now, this seems to be the next dismantling of time honoured baggage checking traditions.

Given you will likely need to re check in on the seperate ticket I would go for the 10.35. Just the slightest delay in boarding or getting to your gate (this is heathrow with all the early morning flights arriving!) could cause you to miss check in for the SAS flight.... and they may not re accomodate you as it was your fault for missing check in.

From memory also, security only opens at 5.30 and there are a couple of flihgts before that so lines can be quite long - even at that time.

Play it safe and do the later flight.
