Default The new Ikea

Does anyone know if the new Ikea outlet is still planning to be built in Tempe where the old Penfolds building was? If they are, may I suggest a outdoor cafe towards the rear, what a fantastic spot that would be to get photos from. The current Ikea has a food outlet. The only problem is dodging all those people buying furniture

Tony, I haven't heard anything about the Tempre Ikea project for a while, so I am assuming it's going ahead. There's a lot of site clearing going on now. You can see through from the highway towards the airport. From what I can glimpse as I drive along the view currently is blocked by the container stacks adjacent to Tempe park, but a terrace cafe would indeed provide a nice view of aircraft on short finals.

Indeed.

If Anyone is interested in the ikea project, have a look at:
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/archiv.../t-179222.html,
where funnily enough this appears(admittably just over a year ago):

I can imagine the car park will become the next plane spotters retreat, you will get to see aircraft coming in and taking off pretty low from that spot .

Nah, not really. Spotters generally like a view straight down the runway.

I personally reckon that lot should be turned into parkland. It is virtually right under the flight path. It won't be pleasant working there with the noise."

Or google ikea tempe sydney. That gives you the best information. I did only spot this a few weeks ago, after going on my own adventure to the Rhodes store..

The new ikea car park looks like it will be a place for cracking photos of 16 arrivals and 34 departures.

Just makes me wonder if they will implement some sort of measure to discourage this...

This would be good for taking shots, I used to go around there to take photos a while ago.
Here are some photos taken from swamp road, it's either in Sydenham or Tempe

hears a photo of an old house just up the road right next to the 16R approach

Here is the park you probably notice when landing on 16R or on the right side of the plane when coming in on 16L, it is known as Sydenham green

A330 flying over the park

You could be right Neil. I'm sure there would be a regular bunch hanging out each afternoon. Including me when I can :-). They'll probably have a security guard moving people on.

They'll probably force you to do a lap on the inside of IKEA. And when you get back to your car....

Allen key provided, of course!
