I went to the new furnituer store in Tempe (I am not sure as naming it might become an advertisement) on its first day and had lunch in the restaurant.
16R was on that time and I am sure the planes are so big that even a $30 mobile phone can spot it easily. You also can get unlimited drink refill, air conditioned (ensure at this time of the year spotting planes will be less sweaty) and food/shopping opportunity.
I saw some 'customers' actually spotting the planes in the restaurants and was not stopped by any staff within. But think the glass reflection and the flags will obstruct your quality. Also please be considerate as this might change if things get worse and we will not have that opportunity ever again.

Just following on from what arthur t said, if you are going to sit in the restaurant and spot planes......at least buy something, at least they can see you are supporting their business even though you are not there for it.

I look forward to going back to Sydney, visiting this new IKEA and enjoying their delightful Pizza Pocket things for $2.50 while spotting. Much better than the McRubbish you get near GA

While spotting enjoy the Julbord Celebration, Najad salmon or lingonberries in the restaurant.
