Default Flybe to be rebranded

It appears that Flybe is being bought by a consortium including Stobbart and Virgin Atlantic, and will continue but under the Virgin Atlantic name. The latter is not always positive in the UK with many boycotting Branson’s businesses as he tries to frustrate the UK becoming independent of the EU.

Given its origin, Virgin European would have been a great name.

They will still be part of Europe, just not part of the EU.
Those are two different things.

As someone who used to work for Flybe, and also boycott's Branson's products where possible, I don't know how to feel about this.

Try not to put your personal feelings in the forefront , just try and feel for the employees who strive to keep their jobs and pay their bills over there right now .

VS isn’t really a Branson product any more. ‘Virgin Atlantic’ is really not much more than a code name for ‘Delta UK’ these days - sure there are touches of the old VS but only to set it apart from BA and others.

Dave’s right though, a lot of people will probably lose their jobs and, just as importantly, the only air services in their town. My thoughts are with them, and I certainly hope the cuts aren’t as drastic as some people expect.

A possible decision will be made as to the future viability of the airline following a shareholder meeting on March 4th . The uncertainty of the future must weigh heavy on the shoulders of the employees .

My personal feelings are the very things that are mixed... My father worked there for 19 years until he retired. I have many friends who also work(ed) there, some for Flybe and some for companies whose very existence relies on Flybe's, I feel bad for them and hope they don't suffer. There are also people there who I wouldn't cross the street for and are possibly part of the reason for the airline struggling. Swings and roundabouts.

Obviously I hope no-one suffers or is made to face hardships, however my sympathy is more for some than it is for others.

The other thing is my personal position on Branson dates back to his PR nonsense over Concorde. Petty it might be, but a principle I've stuck by for a while.

Ironically, using Flybe staff travel back in 2006 I got a return trip to Australia for 200GBP. Flying Virgin Atlantic...
