Default Another Laser Incident in Sydney. One man charged

source Herald Sun

Quote:
A MAN accused of pointing a laser at a police helicopter has been tracked down to his home.

The chopper was patrolling in the vicinity of North Rocks in Sydney's west when a green laser was pointed at it five times in seven minutes shortly after 10pm (AEST) last night.

Police aboard the helicopter managed to pinpoint the precise location of the laser and ground crews were sent to a home in Northbridge Avenue, Glenwood.

A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged him with possess/use a prohibited weapon without permit and also an act threatening the safety of aircraft/person on board.

The man was granted bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court on October 20.
Perhaps he can scrape the rubber of Rwy 25 touchdown zone as a penalty, especially based on its current use.

Excellent to read a story where these pathetic people are caught. If you monitor the Sydney and Melbourne ATIS, a mention of 'unauthorised laser illumination' is frequently reported nearly every night. I hope he gets what he deserves.

Great work by all concerned to track him down - he probably thought it would be impossible to catch him.

Hope the courts throw the book at him but I doubt they will.

Maybe we should all head along and try laser this guy in the eyes, and see how he likes it... A possible alternative to the courts throwing the book at him!!

A fitting sentence.

It's good to finally see a sentence that reflects the seriousness of his actions. It'll hopefully make others think twice before doing something similar.

I hope this sentence is splashed over all forms of the news so the message gets sent loud and clear to these boneheads.

Doesn't seem to have gotten picked up by the press, that I can see.
