Default Virgin Blue - Asian Expansion

Virgin Blue/Pacific Blue has applied for capacity from Denpasar (Bali) to another South-East Asian port - 540 seats or 3x weekly 73H services.

It's not Singapore, so wonder if it will be KUL/MNL/HKT etc?

Your thoughts?

Cheers

My thoughts

MNL - Too much back tracking if they are aiming for connections from MEL/BNE etc

KUL - I don't think they'd want to tread on MH's feet OR get into a battle with Air AsiaX

HKT - I like the idea, but doing DPS-HKT wouldnt really get much O&D traffic

My thoughts are with Bangkok or Hong Kong, leaning to Bangkok as it is slightly shorter and should make the return flight from DPS in time to do the red eye back to AUS. If demand is there, then it could also be moved to V Aus in time.

Latest rumour is that it's PER-DPS-HKT!

Interesting.

JQ are also extending PER-DPS and PER-CGK onto SIN from mid year. This will enable Indonesian pax to connect to/from QF services to Europe and India.
