Wonder if QF will delay there new 380 due in a few weeks!

Was at Melbourne airport this morning and they had a 380 in the hanger.....what they could fit in and checking engines on that machine. Due to go out as QF9 this arvo.

"Annus horribilis" for poor old Qantas , they could sure do with some good news stories , there were some reports there were only 250 pax on board , I wonder if they could have made it to LHR on 3 engines with a half -load , at least that would have kept the media quiet ..........

Yeees, that strategy worked so well for BA in 2005. Media outlets completely missed that one...

Could they send something over from LHR or FRA for the day to do a pickup, the way they did with the Cairo evacuation flight awhile back?

at least if they made it to LHR they would have kept the passengers happy , which they seem to have trouble doing at the moment , it seems the media are having a field day with Qantas these days

One media report (SMH) suggests that the engine was shutdown 90 minutes after departing Singapore. If correct, why continue to Dubai instead of returning to Singapore?

Thanks Andrew. I did suspect the report might not be correct, and yes, it would have been illogical too.

Arrow Don't blame the reporter

If you watch the video, "90 minutes" does appear to be what Olivia Wirth said, although it's probable she meant 90 minutes from DXB rather than 90 minutes out of SIN.

By the way, did you notice that she was interviewed in the courtyard at Parliament House - no prizes for guessing why she happened to be there!

Coming from the same woman who said the parts from QF32 weren't from a Qantas aircraft, when there's pictures of Qantas parts (the kangaroo and all) plastered all over the world news.

Good job by the crew though.
