Default Cryptic tweet by SACL: new route announcement

SACL has posted a cryptic tweet today with the text "Another week, another new route announcement. Where could it possibly be? More info to come soon". Posted 2 hours before this post, with a photo showing part of a SQ B777... intriguing, no!?

Cool SQ SIN-CGK-SYD

SQ SIN-CGK-SYD three times weekly using B772 (26J245Y configuration) from 23 November 2016:

I'll confess, when I saw the headline, I was hoping this was SYD's first A350 route!

Pretty sure there were many others like me (and probably you, Nathan) who were thinking the SQ 777 photo was 'just a photo'... I didn't think SQ was actually going to feature!

This is out of the blue. Some competition for Garuda and QANTAS.

With the New Flight to JKT means Singapore Airlines will have 6 Flights into and out of Sydney on a Saturday. Currently 1 X A380, 1 X B773ER (New Product), 1 X B773ER ( Old Product), 1 X B773, 1 X B772ER & 1 A333. So the Only Aircraft which Sydney is missing is an A350 which we will get at some stage. Busy Time for Airport Staff. Plus if Canberra has Fog they will more than likely Divert that flight to Sydney rather than Melbourne.

Depends whether it's the SIN-CBR or the WLG-CBR that's affected. The former would most likely go to SYD, the latter would almost certainly go to MEL due to SYD curfew.
