Default Thai Airways to begin A350 operations to Australia

Evening all,

Quote:
In the week of 31JAN16’s OAG Schedules Analyser listing, THAI has filed preliminary summer 2016 operational schedule, effective 27MAR16, which has yet to be reflected in the GDS.

Based on the preliminary schedule in the OAG, proposed changes as follow. Reservation for these revised aircraft type is not reflected in GDS at present time, therefore further changes remain highly possible.

Bangkok – Melbourne

Airbus A350-900XWB, with configuration of C32Y289, to operate following service, instead of 777-200ER:
eff 01JUL16 TG465/466
eff 01AUG16 TG461/462

Looks like it will be October now.

Quote:
Thai Airways International, which took delivery of its first Airbus A350 XWB Aug. 30, will delay launching the first scheduled service to Melbourne Airport because of additional inspections and requirements from Australian authorities.

Thai Airways president Charamporn Jotikasthira said in a statement that the A350 XWB approval process “is not able to be completed in time for Thai to operate the maiden flight by Sept. 16. Previously in 2014, the approval of Thai’s first Boeing 787-8 was much shorter. Thai, therefore, needs to delay operating the A350 XWB to Melbourne until the authorities have completed their approval process.”

It is expected the approval will be completed in time for the winter schedule, which begins at the end of October.

I'm sure we're all as confused as each other, and none so much as TG itself!
