The Big Blue and yellow box is up and should be opened later this year.

Looks as though it won't be a multi level carpark though

for more info, this may help http://www.ikea.com/au/en/store/tempe

I think I heard or read that all crane operations and boom concreting were only allowed to be completed during curfew for obvious reasons

There were many crane operations permitted on the site during daylight and non-curfew periods, and in fact there are still some crane ops happening during the day on their new head office building next door (the clock tower). Very strict operating heights were/are imposed on the site, and the sloped roof on the eastern side was also designed to fit in with these OLS requirements.

I understand the IKEA restaurant and the roof top car park has good views of 16R.

I'm told Sydney Message Board long time member Barry Cook was seen lurking on Hurlstone Park station today so he may be out at the Mound this weekend.

Check out www.news.com.au There was a photo gallery available there yesterday that had 1 shot from the roof, but I don't think where it was shot is public accessible.

Being Ikea, you could bring your Ektorp Muren or Kivik with you, and setup in the car park with a small Tofteryd on a Gilda Blom for the drinks and camera. Also take along a Barnslig Alg or Dutkig to keep the kid happy, and in case it rains, better have a Upptacka handy. By the way, don't forget the Tajma to keep track of the airline schedules.

Thanks Nigel, yeah you are right- looks like the air vents on the roof rather then a rooftop carpark!

from the pics it looks like the carpark is fully enclosed too which would prevent photos.. I stand to be corrected though- just judging this off the photos/video from news.com.au

Does the new Ikea affect the old Swamp Rd spotting locations? I might go check it out tomorrow but just seeing if anyone might know
