Question Was it that bad?

It didn't appear to be THAT bad! Or was it underinsured?

The ATSB classed the damage as Substantial

Also whats the replacement cost of 21yo a/c ?

The issue is that it damaged the frames and forward pressure bulkhead. To be honest it could be repaired, but the value vs repair must have made it uneconomical.
