SHEP'S MOUND UPDATE: We're progressing very nicely for our September opening of Shep's Mound. The retaining wall for the northern lookout is complete and our second lookout is taking shape!

Thumbs up

The site is definitely shaping up quickly. The footpaths were laid this weekend and will soon be connected to the paved centre walkway.

Each of the spotting platforms look much bigger than I expected. Looking good!

Need to rid the perimeter of those annoying lights.

The height and forward projection of the new viewing platforms should reduce the impact of the lights somewhat. But as a positive, the 3 high light masts that were directly in front of the Mound seem to have been removed completely, so that's one less obstacle to dodge.

Sure, it would be great if the new area was 3 stories high, had lift access, a 24/7 bar, free beds to use so you got the early morning arrivals and free 600mm telephoto lenses in the brand of your choice for use, etc, etc, etc, but just remember, what's being built there is a massive improvement on what was there only a month ago when it was closed for connstruction.

Thanks for all the photos and updates Amsy and YSSY.
Is there provision to trim the trees to the south of the viewing area at all?
