Default Continued viability of QF9/10 ?

If and when the “ Project Sunrise “ flights eventuate , what do you think the continued viability would be for the PER- LHR - PER flights considering a large proportion of the pax originate from the Eastern States and would presumably then use the new non stop service from SYD to LHR . I’ve been thinking of this for some time and would welcome thoughts on the subject .

I have heard from various people on the flights that I have taken on QF9/10 that in fact a lot of passengers terminate at Perth and no onward flight to the east.

If these ultra long haul flights do eventuate, I'll definitely be one of the people that would chose a one-stop journey to stretch the legs!

Not surprising, tag flights with domestic legs are hardly popular based on stats
ie August
Brisbane-Cairns 178
Sydney-Canberra 125

I have heard from multiple sources that majority of the passengers come from Perth and a lot of frequent flyers use that MEL-PER-MEL domestic leg to get international service on a domestic leg. Not sure how true that is though.
I am also pretty sure that QF still has 3 slots at LHR, so there is a possibility that there is a SYD/MEL/PER-LHR leg in the future.
Lastly there has been many public reports from AJ that the route is very profitable.

Hence why when the 9 turns around at PH sometimes, the ML leg is serviced by a 737.

That's very rare. Usually only happens when an aircraft goes u/s and they need to get the schedule back on track.
