Default QF A380 to San Fran

Howdy all

The QF73/74 SYD-SFO-SYD flights on 14JAN will be ops by A380 in lieu of B744 a/c.

Will the A380 replaced the 744 on that route?

Or will the 787? (I heard that the 787 was more suitable, going by the passenger loads on those flights)

The 787 in Qantas colours are is still a good 5 years off. Even then Qantas's first 787 will be the smaller model hand me downs from Jetstar which they plan to use to replace the 767's with.

Is there any possibility that QF's A380s will operate more flights to LAX in the next couple of months than the current Friday SYD flight and the Monday MEL flight?

If I remember correctly, the reduction in QF A380 flights to LAX was due to delivery delays for their upcoming A380s, but even if one more of those birds were delivered by the end of November, could we possibly see an extra flight to LAX just prior to Christmas ?? ..or is there next to no chance of that..

Looking at the QF website, that seems to be the case.

Just going back to my question. I've seen in a thread at A.net that VH-OQB (MSN 015) has an estimated delivery date of 12 December. Any info' to confirm this and also any info' in regards to when an additional flight to LAX will come about from QF's second A380?

Shameel,

Reading between the lines here, but are you hoping for the VA 77W replacement to be a QF A380 now???

Umm... were we seperated at birth or something..

Yeah, now that VA's put me and my partner on a QF flight from LAX (QF12, the same flight number that the A380 operates to SYD), I'm hoping and praying that QF introduce another A380 flight to SYD by mid-December, except this time it being a weekend flight. Changing to the LAX-SYD Friday night flight is out of the question, and same for the LAX-MEL flight on Monday.. so hoping for a miracle that QF introduce a weekend A380 flight out of LAX!

Needless to say that not getting to fly the VA 77W was a huge disappointment for me..and the only thing which could somewhat make up for it would be a flight on the A380. Chances are real slim.. I know... and if it doesn't happen, then i'll be flying the good ol' 744.

There's only one other way that the VA 77W disappointment could be completely made-up for.. and that would be flying SQs 77W on their SYD-SIN-ICN-SFO routing... but haha..that's well outside my budget.
