So with OJJ departing Australia yesterday and heading for Marana,I have a question. Why do all the aircraft that go to MZJ get parted out so quickly? It appears,on the info that I have seen and heard that the aircraft that go VCV,seem to have a better chance of a second life,if you like and go into a period of storage. However, aircraft going to MZJ are the opposite. I saw a recent pic of OJG,which didn't retire that long ago and it looked as though it had been there for ever. It had no chance of ever flying again, from what I saw. Very sad. I would assume that whether an aircraft goes to VCV or MZJ depends on the lease arrangements and holder. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, where to from here. Does anyone know the next to go and when??

Hope its not for a while

Cheers
Jim

Thanks for the info Stuart. The only thing I can add is that OJG is definitely not stored. From the recent pic I saw, sadly,it is well on the way to being broken up

Cheers

Does anyone have any idea what is happening from here with 744 retirements?

I've seen nothing written about what is next to go and when,so any info would be great.

OJC and OJE haven't flown for a couple of days and i would have thought with the fleet reducing as much as it has, these two would have been flat out with JNB,NRT etc??

Again,any info would be great.

Cheers
Jim

Don't think we will be seeing many more retirements with the current and planned B744 schedules.

VH-OEB will go in for a cabin reconfig in June with her current low density config changed to a 14/52/32/255 layout to match OJL and OJM. This should help with scheduling as all the B744s will have seating between 353 and 371 making aircraft swaps etc a lot easier than is currently possible.

Hope this helps
