Default 747 Domestic Duties

Does anyone know why VH-OEF is operating SYD-MEL-SYD rotations today? Is there an A330 out of service which is creating a capacity shortfall?

Maybe filling in for QPH that had to be delayed ex PVG following a lightning strike?

It only was running yesterday, QF just upgraded the service for the SYD-MEL rotation, because they were also transporting some of the Brazilian and Argentinean soccer teams players and staff to Melbourne considering they played at the MCG last night as well.

Any chance a B744 will be put into the rotation on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday? Brazil are playing at the MCG on Tuesday night.

Had nothing to do with the soccer, QPH was unserviceable and they needed the capacity in the lead up to the long weekend. Was a very last minute change.

Thanks Zac. From memory though very rarely a B744 is subbed in on school holidays for MEL-PER-MEL or MEL-SYD-MEL runs. Seem to recall this happened last year or the year before.
