Car 9 and company are performing friction testing on Runway 16 Right, which appears to involve multiple full length passes of the runway (presumably with some sort of test equipment on board).

The friction testing vehicle is a Ford F250. It carries about 1 tonne of water and has a small trailer at the back which houses the test unit.

Page 2 here shows the friction testing gear with an older tow vehicle shown.

Thanks for the information Nigel, this was the first time I had seen the Friction Testing on ADS-B, and listened to the associated ATC Coms. At the end of the Dubai video, I think they said it was done weekly, is that the frequency at Sydney ?

Given my shift pattern I really can't give you an accurate response, but I know it's not weekly. However, now that the friction test has been done we're likely to see some rubber removal works planned.

Newly repainted VH-ZLE departed WGA for ADL this evening, after a slight hiccup (required to use the REX power carts).

Negative, was going to stick around but off to Melbourne in the morning. VH-PPD is a semi-frequent visitor though, as Paspaley owns 'South Tahara', a stones throw from the airport.

Love your pics Grahame, especially the last 3 of the aircraft!

Separately, does anyone know if the Jetgo that arrived just before midday is in SYD for Mx or just visiting? TIA!
