Default VH-OJQ on domestic route today

Just noticed that VH-OJQ operated QF577 to Perth this afternoon and is now on finals as QF566.

Very rare for a -400 to operate domestic flights.

Any particular reason for this one?

The flight was nowhere near full in or out of Perth so was most likely due to aircraft availability, several aircraft went U/S today.

Thanks Adam, thought it might be due to high load but obviously not.

Nice experience for pax as more leg room etc.

Back in 1997 I took advantage of the Qantas 'red tag' specials ($198 return SYD-MEL) where they would fill up empty seats on 744's for those flights that came to SYD then went to MEL and vv. From memory I flew down on QF12 and back on QF11. In both cases the a/c were quite empty and there would have been about 50+ 'domestic' pax.

Got the full service plus you actually went through the International transit area and all the usual shops/bars etc (but no duty free obviously).
Your boarding pass was stamped 'DOM' so it stood out from the 'genuine' International pax.
