8815 flies to SYD for fumigation, used to be done in the UK, but now DL sends the plane to Australia.

Apparently the insecticide the USA says has to be used is banned in the USA

Gerald, on one site N703DN has been logged as DL8815 so more than likely it will be that aircraft.

Sorry Anthony, can I just confirm I understand you correctly. Delta have to fly aircraft all the way from the USA just to by sprayed for bugs?

Surely there is a different type of checimcal that can be used in the USA. this seems to be a rather large waste of money...not to mention the greenhouse gases.

Cheers

M

Yep that's right some aircraft also go to Asia (Japan?), but the 772's come downunder.

My understanding is not so much the chemicals but the locations certified by the Australian authorities (AQIS I guess) to apply them and there are none in the USA.
I know Delta were flying aircraft to LHR for treatment then they had planned to periodically slip a departure from SYD to enable it to be done here, guess there was a scheduling issue that caused this flight.

Cheers

Chris
