I was lucky enough to be on SQ221 that arrived this morning. As soon as we boarded in Singapore I asked if this was one of the new A380s. The chief purser proudly announced that it was and this was to be its first commercial flight. The captain also announced this before we left the gate when he advised us that four checked in passengers had not boarded and they had to find and offload their luggage, hence the late arrival into Sydney.

The aircraft was like getting into a new car with it being so fresh, vibrant and untouched. I took a photo and smudged the inside window perspex and felt as though I had to wipe it clean to keep it sparkling clean. Ha ha. It wasn't until we turned onto final that I saw how fresh the paintwork looked and how shiny the wing was in the full sun. I'm not sure what the full differences are in the cabin but the aircraft has slimline seats with a different entertainment setup and the toilets look modular and possibly bigger.

A very nice aircraft to fly in.

A rare catch at Sydney Airport this morning as Samoa Airlines Boeing B738 I-NEOS departed at 1020L, after an unscheduled overnight stay. Normally arriving at 2019L and departing at 2132L, the delay provided some rare sunshine shots of the aircraft in Sydney.

VH-FGB, along with 2 other Alliance F100s, should be passing through SYD tomorrow (Sunday) mid afternoon, if of interest to anyone.

Alliance Fokker 100 VH-FGB was in Sydney yesterday afternoon, showing off the "90th Anniversary" livery, recognising the first Trans Pacific flight, led by Sir Charles Kingsford Smith. Alliance only serve Newstead Brewing FGB Beer onboard their Fokker 100 VH-FGB, and its "Fokkin’ Good Beer" apparently.

Is that a Boeing B757 I see at Sydney Airport - A rare visitor for sure, operating another of the Abercrombie & Kent luxury world charters. 26 Days New York-Havana-Bogota-Easter Island-Apia-Sydney so far. The B757-27BER has 50 Lay-Flat 1st Class Seats, and is owned Icelandair.

I don't know if Joe Sutter ever made it to Sydney, however he was here in Spirit this afternoon. Joe led the Boeing Design Team on the B747 Project, and was affectionately known as "The Father Of The B747”. UPS named their 1st B747-8F N605UP "Spirit Of Joe Sutter", and it made its first visit to Sydney Airport today. RIP Joe (1921-2016), the B747 was a job well done.

While the Abercrombie & Kent Boeing B757 was resting on the KILO Apron at Sydney Airport for a couple of days, the passengers on this luxury tour were off helicopter sightseeing in the Blue Mountains today - Note the A&K logo in the cockpit windows.

This morning it was onto the next destination for the Abercrombie & Kent Luxury Tour group. Icelandair Boeing B757-200 TF-FIW departed Sydney Airport for Yangon (Rangoon) in Myanmar, via Denpasar - Not the best weather, but hope they enjoyed their time in Sydney.
