JAL Changes B77W To B789 Dreamliner
And Then There Were 10
Japan Airlines (JAL) changed their usual B77W JA771/772 service to a B789 Dreamliner this morning, becoming the 10th Dreamliner operator at Sydney Airport. JA862J touched down on Runway 34L just on sunrise. JAL have not confirmed whether this is a permanent change, rather saying they would monitor loads, and possibly change the aircraft type accordingly. JAL's Boeing 787-9 has 44 Business Class Sky Suites configured 2-2-2, and 116 Economy Seats configured 2-4-2 at 33in pitch an 19in wide. Arrival Video

Thank you for the photos, Grahame. Japan Airlines also has 35 premium economy seats in their 787-9 which makes a total of 195. Pretty spacious all round with 8 abreast in economy.
JAL have traditionally upgraded to a larger aircraft for the northern winter schedules which has been a 777-300ER (244 pax) for the last few years. It will be interesting to see if this aircraft change occurs again in October, 2017. VN787/786 commences on Wednesday direct from/to Hanoi which increases Vietnam Airlines Sydney services to 10 per week. Who will be the 11th 787 operator and first A350 airline to Sydney? |
