Arrow Final Reminder before Spotting Weekend

Only a few days before we all congregate together at Sydney Airport to celebrate the second aviation community weekend. What a weekend it will be!

There are a few housekeeping rules I would like to inform everyone of:
- The weekend will still take place should it be raining;
- Bring along the original identification/ASIC you registered with; and
- For Friday evening’s event at Sydney Airport’s Corporate Rooftop don't forget to bring along your EventBrite confirmation.

Airside Tours
Registrations are closed.

VIC forms have all been collected and submitted.

Each tour will commence on time. Please meet at the Sydney Airport Media Centre, T1 at least 30 minutes beforehand.

- Friday, 4 April 2014 14:30 – 16:30. Media Centre doors open from 14:00.
- Saturday, 5 April 2014 06:30 – 09:30. Media Centre doors open from 06:00.

Upon arrival I will need to sight the original identification you provided in your VIC form before I provide you with your VIC pass. The VIC pass will need to be placed on the provided hi-vis vest (chest area) and be visible at all times.

The Sydney Airport Media Centre is located on the arrivals level directly across from the train station. Enclosed is a map and interior picture to assist each of you with directions (refer to attachment p1).

Both airside tours will be under escort by a Sydney Airport Safety Vehicle. Should there be an emergency or operational issue, the tour will cease immediately with the safety vehicle escorting the bus back to entry point.
Should the weather be overcast or raining the tour will continue. Please be prepared with a raincoat. No umbrellas will be allowed airside for safety reasons. If the weather changes (thunder, lightning or hail), the airside tour will cease immediately with the safety vehicle escorting the bus back to the entry point.

Canon Product Demonstration/Light Refreshments/Trivia - SACL Rooftop Event
Registrations are closed.

Afternoon activities will kick off immediately after the Friday afternoon airside tour at Sydney Airport’s Corporate Rooftop. If you are joining the Friday airside tour I will escort you from the Media Centre to the rooftop.
If you are joining us from 16:30, Sydney Airport will have a staff member to assist in transferring guests between 16:30 – 17:30 from the ground floor to level nine as access to the rooftop is restricted.

If you intend to arrive after 17:30 please send me an email or contact Kurt or myself so I can come down and escort you upstairs. (refer to attachment p2.)

Canon Australia has confirmed their availability and will be allowing each of you to test drive eight cameras (EOS 1DX or EOS 5D MKIII) and lenses (EF800 / 5.6L to EF70-200/2.8LIS II). Canon will have a representative on hand to answer any questions you may have.

I hope everyone has prepared themselves for some aviation trivia. Our office has had immense fun creating and answering the questions over the past two weeks. Trivia will commence at 17:30.

There will be light food and refreshments available during the rooftop event. Please dispose of your rubbish in the bins provided and keep the area tidy.

Toilet facilities are also available on the rooftop. Again, please keep these areas tidy.

AFP Airport Watch Talk
Registrations are still open ---> Link

Saturday morning’s AFP Airport Watch talk will commence after the second airside tour (09:30) at the Sydney Airport Media Centre.

I would strongly encourage everyone to attend as the AFP will brief all of you on the benefits of the national Airport Watch program.

Should you have any questions relating to any of the above activities; please do not hesitate to contact me (yssy.planespotter@syd.com.au) or Kurt (boardadmin@yssyforum.net).

Look forward to seeing you all in the following days.

Kind regards,
Anne, Sydney Airport, and Kurt, YSSY Forum

Don't forget, YSSY Forum invites attendees to gather for a light lunch over at the St George Rower's Club from 12pm on Friday before making your way over to the International Airport for the 2pm Registration of the Afternoon Airfield Tour. Everyone is invited, U/18s will need to be supervised by a guardian and Club Regulations apply.

See you in the Bistro!

Exclamation

Hello everyone,

As it's the eve of the 2014 Spotting Weekend, it's timely to remind people about their behaviour throughout this weekend's events hosted by Sydney Airport.

Trust me, this is normally a reminder that I prefer not write considering I wish to rely on everyone who is planning to take part in the activities offered and that I need not remind adults to behave like adults. But nevertheless, here it is anyway.

Please make sure you respect the instructions of all Sydney Airport staff and security allowing them to do their job and to keep processes like Security Screening for the Airfield Tours seamless. Follow their guidelines and ensure you remain polite.

Again, for those of you attending the SACL Rooftop event from 4.30pm tomorrow, please be reminded that this location is a Corporate Office suite, and as such to be on your best behaviour. Please be friendly and courteous at all times to allow other staff that work in the building the opportunity to get along with their respective roles.

Also, I know the closure of the Observation Deck might still be a sore point for people, but I think we've pretty much exhausted that topic already through other means so it might be best to leave any questions or discussions about it at home. We want to embrace the good things a few people at Sydney Airport are doing for our community so instead I encourage you to focus on those things.

With regards to the Airfield Tours, please be on-time! The early you arrive at the SACL Media Centre in T1, the earlier the Visitor Passes can be distributed and the quicker we can all get on the bus and get out onto the Airfield. Please also make sure you don’t over-pack your camera bag. Be sensible with how much you pack to keep the Security Screening process efficient and trouble-free. 1 Bag permitted only. Leave the 600mm prime at home, but pack the 18-200mm or 250mm. Don’t forget your batteries and memory cards and maybe even a wider angle lens.

Also, don’t wander off or away from the group pre-tour or during the tour, this will only add to the stress of getting away on-time, or it may land you in prison if you go beyond designated markers whilst airside, your choice!

I know rain is forecast for the weekend, but unfortunately umbrella’s will not be permitted airside, so please just pack a poncho or a waterproof jacket if you think you’ll even be bothered to wear one.

Don’t forget to bring the original identification stated on your VIC form, whether it be Proof of Age Card, Drivers Licence, Passport or ASIC etc. You forget this and you can forget about your seat on the bus.

Be reminded to wear enclosed shoes for the tours, no flip flops are permitted.

Together with Sydney Airport we’ve done the best we could to organise the events we have, and unfortunately we could not compensate parking in this instance. Please respect and understand this and just carry-on.

As mentioned in another thread, parking is available at the International Terminal at normal rates. We suggest car-pooling, train or bus, parking nearby, walking or even follow one of the creative solutions offered by other members in this thread: [Link]

Toilet facilities are available on the SCAL Rooftop and at the T1 Media Centre, however will not be available during the Airfield Tours. Go before you arrive.

Any untoward or disrespectful behaviour during the Airfield Tour/s or SACL Rooftop event may render your activity in said event over and you may be escorted by Security.

We seldom get opportunities like these to take advantage of and it only takes one clown to ruin the gig for everyone else, so please keep that in mind for the benefit of you and everyone else. Adults, be like adults and everything will run smoothly, thanks for your understanding

See you all at the St George Rowers Club Bistro from 12pm tomorrow.

Pray for sun!

Smile Anyone need a lift this afternoon or tomorrow morning?

If anyone wants a lift today or tomorrow, I will be travelling to T1 from Drummoyne at about 4pm today and tomorrow morning I will be travelling from Matraville at about 5.45 am.

I'm happy to pick up anyone along my route who wants to park outside the airport precincts. I have purchased pre-booked parking at T1 so will be driving there anyway.

I can take three passengers (four if you don't mind being squished) - just email me and nominate which day and where you want to be picked up:: pargy@argystar.com

UNLESS YOU GET A CONFIRMATION EMAIL I WILL NOT BE PICKING YOU UP!! That could be because others were quicker than you, or because your location is not convenient for me.
