And SQ231 (9V-SKL) had a 3 hour delay departing Singapore last Wednesday (8/2) morning (I was one of those stuck in the departure lounge after the delay was announced) due to a problem with No2 engine - and not a word reported anywhere !!!

well why would the Fairfax or News Ltd press be reporting on Singaporean issues at Changi Airport?

the question should be does The Straits Times report any time Singapore Airlines has a minor engineering problem, I expect not

(but then it does report QF matters)

Given the relationship between the parent of The Straits Times (SPH) and the Singapore Government, I dont think they would dare criticise any Government enterprise, be it fully or partly owned, directly or indirectly. Media laws are somewhat "different" in Singapore.

Just for info, each passenger was given a one page letter from SQ, apologising etc etc, but also saying that the problem was "No 2 Engine Bleed Duct Crack".
