About 2 months ago, went SYD-MEL on DJ, normally get the 6.45am flight, but of some reason I booked the 6.15am flight

Did an on-line check in the day before, did not notice the flight time.

Arrived at airport at 6.10am to get the 6.45am flight, only to hear my name being called as I was going through security, ran to gate and made the flight, last to board.

So DJ were following up on on-line check in passengers with no bags

What happens to the tax component of these non refundable airfares when the passenger, for whatever reason fails to take the flight?
