Default Skybus Gone Effective Fri 4th April

Another USA airline gone, but this one had the writing on the wall for quite a while, just hitting all the news outlets as I type!

Last day of operations Friday 4th April 2008.

Currently has a fleet of 12 A319, with orders for 63, someone will happily take up these slots from Airbus

After reading about them in last months Avaition Mag, they really seemed something, they had a good business plan, and their livery wasn't too bad, plus they used cost effective airports. Interesting that they had 63 planes on order(due late 2008)
Mabye TT could try and snap up one of these, Skybus's A319s were only about 4 yrs old

Lets hope we dont see much of this activity her in Aus

There business plan was a disgrace, there customer service even worse.
And unfortunately for them, a good livery does not make a profitable airline.
I feel for the employees but good ridance Skybus.

Scott.

Clearly their business plan wasn't "good" if they're shutting up shop..

Clearly they didn't...

Yes I can use the bold function too

There's no point in shutting the gate after the horse has bolted....

The business plan was having a low cost model, in which they decided to follow, but it didn't work for them, they were using a succesfull business model, but it just didn't suit that airline and how it was created.

Lukas,
You seem to have changed your line here a little mate. At first you said "their business plan" and now it is "business model". The plan refered directly to Skybus and model is generic (please re-read all earlier posts). Either way they had a shocking plan and poor research into prospective city pairings as was seen when they changed ideas for 'focus cities' several times and also their pull out of all but one western gateway.
I also repeat my earlier comments that their service was an outrageous disgrace from personal dealings with them, and yes it is possible to receive wonderful service on an LCC.
I am saddened by their demise though as they did have an awesome livery! That's about the only reason though.
Scott.

Scotty,

I'll give you a wall to bang your head up against... It's easier that way...
