Default Sydney Scenic - new procedures

Following appears on the SY NOTAMS:

Quote:
PROC FROM: 06 041600 TO: 08 271600 C1228/08
SYDNEY HARBOUR SCENIC FLIGHT CLEARANCES
A. PILOTS HOLDING SYDNEY GENERAL FLYING GUIDE MAY REQUEST HARBOUR SCENIC ONE OR HARBOUR SCENIC TWO CODED ROUTE CLEARANCE AS DESCRIBED IN SYDNEY GENERAL FLYING GUIDE EFFECTIVE 05JUN08 AND AIP ERSA EFFECTIVE 28 AUGUST 2008. WHEN ATC APPROVE AND ISSUE CLEARANCES VIA THESE ROUTES, PILOTS ARE THEN AUTHORISED TO FLY THE ROUTE AT THE SPECIFIED ALTITUDE.
B. PILOTS NOT HOLDING THE SYDNEY GENERAL FLYING GUIDE CAN EXPECT A REGULAR NON-CODED CLEARANCE.
Just a heads-up!

I just checked out the Sydney Visual Pilots Guide on the CASA website. There is a small note although no details as of yet.

Harbour Scenic One: Long Reef - Harbour Bridge - North Head - Long Reef
Harbour Scenic Two: Long Reef - Chatswood - Manly Beach - Long Reef

That should be quite exciting. I have not yet done a scenic flight (too lazy) so that might encourage me to get off my **** and finish my training.

I remember a proposal about the new VPG last year. Some guys came over to our flying school and showed us what it would be like, including the introduction of the second scenic flight over Sydney, and asked for opinions and suggestions.
I believe they were aiming for the maps from the Basin Guide to actually be a map and not in a book as they currently are.

Yeah I have seen those maps to which you allude Chris. Flying schools should have them now... makes everything clearer but not quite so convenient to use in the aircraft!

Slightly OT, but Adam, you'll appreciate this.

Did a couple of scenics over Syd in the ol' Saab last year, although didn't really see much. At 2500ft we didn't get the smoothest of flights either!

Correction Kenno, the new "General Flying Guide" as this new chart is called will come out with the next edition of the VTC updates, as it missed out on 5/6 charts. They will however, turn up on the back of the Sydney VTC, so instead of seeing Newcastle on their, you will see the Sydney GFG with all the procedures for the new Syd Harbour Scenic's.
Im just only going off what I got off Guy Lambert (the ATC controller who lead the development of this) told me.

Hi there Patrick,
On the back of the Sydney VTC is a great idea, lets hope it makes 0812 AIRAC update. Any idea where Newcastle VTC will end up ?
Here's what I picked up the other day.
Cheers

The Newcastle VTC will now just become a map of its own.
