Rowan, the old chestnut was in relation to floor weight required to support Skybeds. Clearly this won't be an issue with the new seats as they will all be getting the same business class seat. That said there may well be some galley differences that may limit what aircraft can do longer international flights, and of course there are IFE differences down the back too. Eg those without fixed seat back IFE won't be getting it, just streaming.

So my guess is the newer domestic -200's with the fixed seat IFE may well be seen more on international with the older ones less so. But that is just a guess time will be the only way to tell for certain.

Im not sure how correct this is but appears EBE is withdrawn from JQ service.

While I'm at it the difference in the first four (EBA-D)....well at least one of them, the power of the engines, they are 330-201s, where as everything else is a 330-202 with the exception of EBK and EBS which are 330-203s.

EBE is going to BNE for a 'C' check (about two weeks) it will then return to JQ service.

The engine power is a software upgrade, though, if I understand it correctly.
Or are the engines of an older standard which don't support the higher thrust rates the newer engines are capable of?

I think its a computer management thing (possibly a chip or something) however I THINK (more than open to correction here) that its a pretty big process to upgrade the chip, etc to upgrade to a 202 or 203....because that would require changing the registration of the aircraft (they are registered as A330-201s) and also change of lease terms, etc. the later obviously wouldn't be a problem with these aircraft as they are owned....and now that I type that out it all seems too simple, haha, I'm sure theres more too it, otherwise they'd get standardised, right?

Kinda wrong. The rating as you mentioned influences the MTOW, which in turn influences landing fee's etc. So if you don't need a high thrust rating why have it and incur a higher landing fee?

From JQ source:

Jetstar A330-200 VH-EBE Positions to Brisbane Maintenance.

18/10/2014

Jetstar A330-200 VH-EBE positioned Melbourne – Brisbane as JQ7994. We have respected sources reporting that the aircraft has been withdrawn from Jetstar service and will be prepared for QANTAS service and other respected sources saying the aircraft is at Brisbane for a C Check and will return to Jetstar service.

And to think people used to try and avoid -XFA/B.
After flying on EBN to Sydney and then getting EBB back to Perth very disappointing product.
