Default Qantas Fares v Jetstar

Interesting that Qantas keeps upping fares due to higher fuel costs.

Why doesn't Jetstar do the same? Am I a cynic in thinking QF flyers are subsidising Jetstar passengers. Or are they wanting to rid of QF domestic?

my daughter did SYD-MEL-SYD yesterday on QF, both flights 100% full

normally her company uses DJ but was cheaper to buy on QF this time

The most recent Qantas fare special e-mail I saw had typical domestic prices ($79 MEL-SYD o/w), much to my surprise.

That's not to say, though, that inventory on cheap fares is reduced or that non-sale fares will be higher.
