Every Telstra exchange in the country (definetly capital city ones) have batteries redundant for up to 6 hrs, but once the power fails these are only used to keep power up for 2-3 seconds until the onsite diesel generator kicks in.

What JQ's is hosted in is a data centre - and every decent data centre all over the world has backup generators, all serviced by petrol companies on individual contracts.

So i would think that the data centre probably experienced equipment failure rather than a power outage. (Or perhaps the generator failed to start).

Thrilling stuff, but this thread is now locked before it turns into something not suited to these forums -mod
