Default 2 interesting RAAF movements today

A pair of C-130J Hercules transport aircraft will conduct a formation flight over Sydney Harbour and the Blue Mountains marking the 70th anniversary of Air Force’s No. 37 Squadron. The formation will depart from RAAF Base Richmond at approximately 10.15am. It will then fly towards Sydney’s Northern Beaches, conduct a number of circuits over Sydney Harbour between 10.55am and 11am, before returning back to the RAAF Base Richmond.

Also, at 1:50pm a Missing Man formation will be performed over Cronulla in honour of former WWII fighter pilot Harry Kerr whose funeral will take place at St Andrews Anglican Church, cnr Kingsway & St Andrews Pl, Cronulla at 1pm. Three Royal Australian Air Force Hawk 127 jets will conduct a commemorative ‘missing man’ flypast over Cronulla Beach today at 1:50pm, in memory of the late Mr Harry Kerr.
The lead-in fighters are from Number 76 Squadron at RAAF Base Williamtown. Former Flight Lieutenant Harry Kerr was the last surviving World War II fighter pilot to fly with No. 76 Squadron in the P-40 Kittyhawk. Mr Kerr fought in the Battle of Milne Bay, which ran from 25 August to 7 September, 1942. The battle was a turning point for the Allied forces in pushing back the tide of the Japanese advance.
Commanding Officer of No. 76 Squadron, Wing Commander Chris Hake, said the squadron has close ties with past members, particularly the veterans of the Battle of Milne Bay. “This flypast in memory of Harry is to show our respect and gratitude to him and his fallen mates in arms. We will never forget their service to our nation,” Wing Commander Hake said. The flypast will consist of three Hawk 127s in formation with a gap left for a ‘missing’ fourth aircraft, in memory of Mr Kerr. The jets will travel at a height not below 250 metres and speeds no faster than 550km/h during the flypast.

I caught just a quick glimpse of the fly past before 1400. At the time I didn't know what type the aircraft were except to say they were hooting along. As always this forum has its finger on the pulse
