Qantas has applied to the IASC for an allocation of capacity on the Vanuatu route in order to launch services to Port Vila from August 2024 at 5x weekly using a combination of B737 and E190. A Jetstar service is also planned from October 2024 at 4x weekly with A321neo. The application doesn't mention which Australian port(s) these services will operate at.

VQG has been flying PER-DPS-PER sectors for the past week straight. Out of interest, why would they sell this one rather than send it to Network like the other Classics?

Network/Qlink don't need anymore A320's, that why they are picking up the A319's. Brand commonality from a maintenance perspective and a smaller a/c (F70vsF100) for less pax. Hopefully better bangs for you buck.

Also, they need shorter field landing capabilities for some of the mining sites.

They fly a JQ A320 PER-DPS-PER for a week or so before swapping it out.

There is an A380 scheduled on the QANTAS Flight Status page operating QF6014 AUH-SYD on Wednesday 5/6/24 arriving in SYD at 8:00 Thursday.

Which aircraft will it be? My guess is OQL which will have been in AUH just short of three months, which has been the usual refurbishment timeframe, although OQK has been longer in AUH at just short of three and half months. OQB has only been in AUH just over a month so it wont be it and OQC will probably be the last to leave AUH, hopefully this year.

The 737 fleet is currently facing a fair whack of corrosion issues from what I've heard on the grapevine

That doesn't sound great Brodie! Possible lack of maintenance?? Any particular rego banks that are effected to your knowledge?

Robert.M 3rd June 2024 09:19 AM

Wonder if it was the aircraft stored at YSSY during the pandemic.

Dennis McLean 3rd June 2024 10:05 AM

Hi James, perhaps it will OQK as L also required a cabin refit??
