Virgin australia new Business class

here is what is believed to be virgin Australia new business class which is configured in a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone lay out it looks alot like Cathay pacific business class. it will be unveiled on virgins newest A330 later this month. Soon both the 777 and a330 fleets will have these seats

This is awesome! Good on ya Virgin for choosing a decent new J class product. Hopefully the refurbs don't take as long as their repainting schedule

Bring on a new 737 business class...

JamesL 18th September 2014 03:52 PM

I'm confused as AA announced that XFJ was being delivered in the current A332 layout... Either VA is telling a phurphy or this is pure speculation...?

Brad Myer 18th September 2014 03:57 PM

No mention of a new B737 seat?

RIP Qantas

RIP Qantas??

I don't see how a new biz seat on a handful of B777/A330 aircraft is going to kill QF??

VA are decreasing its A330 fleet and replacing some PER services with B737s which won't have the new biz seats.

Let's not forget QF are about to completely refurb all its A330s not to mention all the B73Hs next year.

QF also fly over 30 domestic B73Hs with personal IFE, something VA doesn't have.

Dave J 24th September 2014 08:31 PM

Credit where it's due surely Brad! This product is far superior to any QF product, no matter what the fleet size...

Zac M 24th September 2014 09:21 PM

I think it's a great product however not overly different to the suites Qantas is about to fit to their A330s. For services that the 77Ws run this is great however for what the A330s do (this goes for QF domestic as well) it's total overkill, the longest flight they do would barely push 6 hours (closer to four most of the time) all you need is a nice recliner seat as per the current offering on EBM and N which have the 2-2-2 layout.

Radi K 25th September 2014 01:26 AM

How will VA pay for this? :p

Adam W 25th September 2014 02:27 AM

I agree with Zac, flat beds are total overkill on domestic flights. Once the meal service is done you don't get much time to fully utilise a bed. The J seats on EBM/N are ok, just need to increase the seat pitch to make them a bit more comfortable. Another good option would be a modernised Dreamtime seat.

Daniel M 25th September 2014 02:21 PM

Who ever said (particularly VA) will keep the A330 only flying domestically ?

Zac M 25th September 2014 02:27 PM

No one, I only said that for domestic flying it's overkill.

Ollie Menkens 25th September 2014 03:24 PM

every one both products are great they are a dead heat but the virgin design is just a leather more exotic version of the new Cathay pacific business class.

we know the virgin business will be good as Cathay has it and people that travel on Cathay like this seat.

Qantas business needed time to get feedback as it is new design started from scratch

well done to both airlines

can not wait to experience this two great seats

I remember reading -XFJ was picked up by VA as a cancelled order from another airline (possibly an Indian airline...Kingfisher?? maybe) and as a result has crew rest area etc unlike their other factory A332's.

Hats off to VA for actually getting their new product in the air quickly without spruiking about it for well over 12 months before the first A330 even goes in for refit and their A332's offer a consistent Y product.

JamesL 25th September 2014 09:50 PM

XFJ is a new build...it may have been a kingfisher slot however it's built to their specifications

Radi K 19th July 2015 11:52 PM

Seems as if the new seat has hit a few snags. http://blogs.crikey.com.au/planetalk...roblem-or-two/

Zodiac have their own issues:

I would expect a few slipping delivery dates for new builds in the near future.
