Strategic/Air Australia New Livery
Folks, this appeared in the Australian Newspaper online overnight (Aviation section).
http://resources3.news.com.au/images...-australia.jpg Refer to the following article for further information - click here. Looks great! :D |
What the. The paid someone way too much money for that. Rather interesting colour. Not a bad design though.
|
I'm just glad to see a livery that doesn't contain red for a change!
|
|
What's with the boomerang ?
|
I'd say a boomerang is fairly Australian, but perhaps they're hinting that they'll always come back? :)
|
I suppose the boomerang could be interpreted as a forward facing arrow.
Would have been nice to have a bit of gold in there somewhere. |
a strong green & contrasting gold would have been better with some reference to Australia on the tail.
|
Love it!
It's great to see something with character/personality to brighten up the sky. But then on the other hand if I had a fleet of aircraft, one would be red, blue, yellow, purple, orange, black etc... lol. No more of "I went on VH-VUT & VH-VUX today"... but "I went on the orange one and the blue one today"... lol. |
It's great, and agree with no red or orange. Shame we probably won't see it in Sydney.
I'm with you Steve, different colours (hard with only 4 a/c). Us oldies will remember Braniff and Court Line in the 60's 70's. I would see these overfly London from home. |
Air australia
It is like the virgin Australia livery, looks plain on a larger aircraft, but looks ok on a smaller aircraft like an a320.
Also on the subject of different colours, Air Canada Jazz use different colours to represent the seasons. |
Great looking livery!
|
Quite like it. Lime is a refreshing color and the stylised boomerang is an interesting interpretation. What else was around for an Australian theme?:
- Kangaroo, I thinks it's used - Emu, They don't fly - Cockatoo, Been there done that, ain't going back - Southern Cross, As above - Koala, Why would an airline want their symbol to be an animal that is very slow and sleeps all day? |

Yes, I must say I am not a fan of it, true refreshing, but nothing in Australia is that green! Had it been a rust type red to represent the 'Outback' I could go with that, but that green is just a little to harsh... The Boomerang though, I like! |
Bernie, I was in Alice Springs last year and overseas backpackers wanted their money back because- the Red Centre was in fact GREEN. Unbelievable sight.
Pardon my ignorance, but does, or will this livery fly into Cairns or Brisbane? Cheers John |
It is a BNE based airline John,so YES .CNS not at this stage.
|
It could be interpreted loosely as "Green and Gold". I like the Boomerang as it flies and as mentioned earlier, always comes back.
But most of all, it's different, even unique. Well done Strategic! Now, get some Boeings and be awesome. |

Its Hidious, unappealing, money not well spent....Id like to know who designed this...its bloody awful!
|
I think it looks fantastic. Have 2 friends that work with them and it is very exciting times. Nice to see something fresh in the sky !
I wish them all the success in the world ! |
Looks Great! :D
I don't think it is that plain, I think if the engines had not been painted green it would be very plain but the green engines really are a nice touch, Virgin Australia is what plain is. This is quite an significant design for a new livery these days, the boomerangs are a nice touch too as someone said it can be interpreted as an forward pointing arrow aswell meaning 'moving forward'. On the A330 it looks great! |
Thanks Lloyd.
Cheers John |
Its really great effect on the tail too. I just hope they do well on their new routes.
Although I did not mind the original strategic livery that was very unique too. As they have a small fleet it wont take very long to be all repainted - 6 months. The news release says they plan to bring a 4th A320 to Australia and maybe a 5th with a fleet total up to 12 in 3 years incl 7 A330s. They may end up serving more longhaul routes than VA. |
I agree it is very nice.Mayby a cheat line or something more at the rear but better than most.I actually also like Network Aviation livery as well.
Ahh the Green revolution. |
Anyone have any idea where these upcoming few A330's are coming from?
Not Swiss apparently.... |

Every sporting event around the world, what colors do us ozzies have splashed on with pride!
|
Morning all,
A320 VH-YQC arrived in Subang yesterday for repainting into Air Australia Colours. It is expected according to this forum http://www.malaysianwings.net/forum/...0&#entry292020 that YQC will be rolled out on the 22nd of October and depart Subang for Perth where it will arrive sometime that day. |
Any word on there next A332?
|
Here is YQC in Air Australia livery.

Looks pretty good!
|
On the artist impression images of Air Australia the engines did not have different tones of green on them from what I remember. But still I think that makes it look even better. I like the livery.
|
Aircraft arrived BNE at 0100 this am.Media announcement at 11am EST today at their Hangar.
|
So it took nearly a month to repaint, so no wonder airlines are reluctant to paint all their fleet in any new scheme especailly when its removed from revenue operations for so long. How much would a paint job like set them back?
|
Jarden it went for a C Check and then a repaint.
|
For the complete airplane nerds like myself, I’m also enjoying the fact that there are some CFM56 A320s back in Australia once more.
|
Just seen the new uniform. Very Nice.
|
|
Yes...... The uniform, mmm... Very nice
|
YQB flew out of PER over the last couple of days to WMSA for a paint job too...
Cheers, Duncan. |
