Tiger replaces VA on some DPS services

VA are moving capacity across to the Tasman freed up by Tiger taking over some DPS services

http://www.asx.com.au/asxpdf/2015080...3sskcnwqy7.pdf

DPS-ADL, MEL and PER to be replaced by Tiger while PER-HKT will cease being offered.

TT will use three all-Y B738s to operate MEL-DPS, PER-DPS (both daily) and ADL-DPS (5x weekly), routes which VA will cease operating. BNE, SYD & PHE services to DPS remain on VA.

The flying freed up by VA's partial exit from DPS as well as new B737s due in service sees incremental increases on NZ, Fiji, Solomons and Samoa.

Tigerair branded, VAI operated.

Chris B. 7th August 2015 12:54 PM

Only the pilots will be VAI. The cabin crew will be Tigerair. It's only temporary Mick, you'll get your shot soon enough for some Int'l flying. ;)

You don't need 3 aircraft to do those services unless there are large layovers. You can get away with 2 aircraft and even then, there is plenty of slack in their flying.Mayby the aircraft will do some flying not yet advised.

In reality the cabin crew will also be VAI, although they will be wearing Tiger uniforms. As cabin crew training and checking must be done by the AOC holder.

JamesL 9th August 2015 02:33 AM

Nope, as stated within the company they will be TT cabin crew, NOT VAI

I wonder has VA discussed with MI in regards to their exit to DPS market?

If Singapore has 5th freedom right in Indonesia, why VA don't hand the route over to MI and codeshare it? MI can launch SIN-DPS-MEL and SIN-DPS-PER, then I suppose it will allow VA to complete transfer the risk out of the group as well.

Neil L 9th August 2015 12:48 PM

MI is Silkair of Singapore

John C 9th August 2015 09:09 PM

James, they will still need to be trained and checked in the VAI CAR217 organisation.

How this works industrially remains to be seen.
