Ansett Australia - 10 Year Anniversary

G'day all

Haven't seen anything on the forums about it so thought it'd be worth the mention.
http://www.smh.com.au/travel/blogs/t...912-1k54n.html

Today is coming up to the 10 year anniversary of the start of the collapse of Ansett Australia, when it was placed into voluntary administration on this day ten years ago, and as we all know, two days later on the 14th September 2001, suspended all flights.

I'm sure there are plenty of stories and recounts from former employees and passengers of Ansett, would love to hear them! :)

Here's a couple of boarding passes from first day of Ansett Mk2, they even had inaugural flight t-shirts.

Sadly, nothing in this world lasts forever.

The Ansett DVD narrated by Geoff Watson is good viewing. Newsagents recently had it on special for $14.90.

The Ansett Museum in Hamilton, Victoria is a good look, out on the north side of town is Pedrina Park, with its "Ansett Control Tower" in a field where the first ever Ansett flight took off from. The house that Sir Reginald Ansett lived in still stands in Learmonth street. The Ansett depot / building in the main street still lives on as the local Ford? dealer.

There is also a good Ansett display in the TAA Museum on the west side of Essendon Airport in Melbourne.

I’m fortunate enough to have a set of Business Class seats from the B737 with the lovely dark blue velour trim, and one of the final copies of ‘Panorama’. Makes a nice talking point for visitors when you have a bit of History like that.

I am also lucky enough to have a row of seats from an Ansett Bae 146.

Robert. I went to the TAA Museum last June (Photos posted elsewhere), and agree, there is quite a lot of Ansett exhibits there. Simple things like brochures and timetables I remember collecting when I was younger.

Also, any idea if you've seen that Ansett documentary DVD on sale anywhere else? I too have been after that, but haven't been overly successful.

Rest.... how did you folks get a hold of aircraft seats? Would love to get a set! :)

I got mine through eBay around five years ago. Cost around $150.

Did you people reupholster it, because i can only imagine what kind of liquid and solids have been on that seat?
