Default Bird Strike At Melbourne

Reading today's post re aircraft u/s, this happened last week.
Departing Melbourne Airport on 29/11 VH-VKJ, Jetstar JQ1, struck a bird.
On the flight deck no apparent damage was indicated to the engine, so the flight continued on to Honolulu.
Upon arriving at Honolulu the engine was inspected and I am told it is "stuffed" and an engine change is needed.
