Default Air Niugini introduces non stop service between Sydney and Port Moresby

Quote:
Air Niugini is offering a special promotional launch fare- $275 return plus taxes and surcharges- to celebrate its non stop service between Sydney and Port Moresby which commenced today. The airline will operate a twice weekly schedule on Fridays and Sundays with a 7.30am departure on Saturdays and Mondays to Port Moresby.

With the introduction of the direct service, the airline will also introduce two additional services from Port Moresby to Brisbane on Saturdays and Mondays.
The additional services will enable a daily service to Brisbane and offer better connections for weekend travels to Papua New Guinea.

“The biggest tourist arrivals to Papua New Guinea is currently from Australia and these additional flights will enhance tourism opportunities and provide more travel options to the potential tourists,” said Air Niugini’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Wasantha Kumarasiri.

Mr Kumarasiri added that based on the demand for this service, the airline will consider increasing frequency in the future.

The flight will commence from Brisbane at 12.15pm on Fridays and Sundays, arriving into Port Moresby at 3.15pm. The non stop service to Sydney will depart Port Moresby at 4.30, arriving into Sydney at 8.25pm.

The return service departs Sydney every Saturday and Monday at 7.30am, arriving into Port Moresby at 11.25am. The flight will depart Port Moresby at 12.45 and terminates in Brisbane at 3.45pm.

Mr Kumarasiri stated that the decision to commence the non stop Sydney service is based on its Shareholder, Board and management’s commitment to improve services to the travelling public and ensure schedule reliability, explore more tourism opportunities to PNG and make the route financially viable.

A 94 seater Embraer 190 offering 10 business and 84 economy class seats will operate the new schedule.

The aircraft is leased from Australian operator and Brisbane based company Sky Air World and belongs to a series of narrow body, twin-engine, medium range, jet airliners produced in Brazil.
“It is an ideal aircraft with lower operating costs and impressive mission performance,” said Mr Kumarasiri.

Did this flight operate today? There is no flight information on the Sydney Airport departures for this morning or arrivals for tomorrow night for PX5/6 or the QF 350/351 codeshare.
