SYD Departure 5.10am 27/5
Did anyone happen to know why a QF aircraft departed SYD this morning at approx 5.10am this morning?
I had just gotten dressed and heard a loud a/c noise and stepped outside to see a QF a/c flying towrds Parramatta (I live in Stanmore). I could even see that the cabin lights were on. |

QF6 VH-OJA conducted a missed approach due to 15kts tailwind on 34L and climbed out over that area

...which, of course, made MUCH less noise than if it had simply landed RWY16R...

Hi Brent,
I live in Newtown right under 16L/34R and close enough to 16R/34L and I heard it too... it woke me up I thought I was hearing things, so thanks for clearing it up today Cheers!

I wonder how much they're fined for breaking crufew - or was that cleared up after the BA pre-6am go around years ago?

If a crew is fined for deciding to go around for the safety of the crew, passengers and aircraft, then I would be absolutely appauled at the person who would have the guts to give them a fine.
