Yes sorry if there was any confusion there chaps . Torins link will tell you all about the E-10 and he was also right in correcting that Japan and Italy also have taken delivery of some of their 762 tankers. Japan currently has a yellow primer 762 tanker frame up at PAE which should fly in the next week or so. I can post a photo of one of Italy's tankers if required/wanted ??? Scott. Hey Mori, soggy but good. Snow today and we're in spring !!!!!

The tankers which Italy and Japan have placed orders for are straight-up conversions of 767-200ER aircraft. The E-10 which Scott took a couple of photos of is based off the 767-400ER platform and it seems as though it is/was a replacement for the Boeing 707-based E-3 Sentry AWACS, the E-8 Joint STARS aircraft, and EC-135 ELINT aircraft. So from that the question I have for Scott is... why do you suggest that the E-10 will soon be collecting dust out in the desert? Did the development ..and ultimately the production of the E-10 depend on the new KC-767 Advanced Tanker winning the USAF aerial refueling bid? .... couldn't it still be built regardless of the KC-767's fate? |

E-10 is designed to replace the E-8C Joint STARS 707s, although funding has been slowed to a trickle in recent years.
A big canoe fairing will be added under the forward fuselage to carry a big SAR radar antenna.
