Hi there,
I can't stand the new livery. The tail of aircraft (new kanagaroo) is totally out of proportion and new font is already dated.... blah!! It's rubbish..... I have come from a graphic design background and am dumb founded that QF have paid so much money for this "update", what a waste on all levels, why bother??? What they had as a new livery circa 1985 (743 & 762 introductions) was striking, timeless, classic & elegant. If they wanted a new fresh look, do a total new concept on the flying kanagroo like before. As far as I'm concerned it's a disgrace! There....I've finally got this off my chest after 2 years frustration Thanks in advance for your understanding.

Then give Qantas a call and or send them a letter letting them know of your feelings, I'm sure they will give damn.

Even if I did, it would make no difference to them.
They wouldn't give a continental. I like the fact I can raise my feelings in a forum like this as others do about lots of other topics

Nadia,
They needed the new roo because of the composite horizontal stabiliser on the 380's was unable to have the necessary paintwork applied to it. The legs of the roo and proportions could not work on the 380's. I guess that if you're going to change your logo, go the whole hog and refresh the fonts and look as well as it won't cost extra. |

different taste for different people.
At first I didn't like the new roo one bit but now I see both the new roo and the old roo - and the old kangaroo just looks so 80s and outdated |

I very much like the new roo and font, and am glad they didn't change the actual colour scheme. The white body with the red tail IS timeless, and hopefully will take on the same lifespan as the American Airlines livery (which is from 1968!)

Just so happens that I was given a Gemini model of the QF A380 as a parting gift from my colleagues at RAAF Richmond in June'07.
They were obviously not 'aware' of the revised livery so this is what it would have looked like if they were able to retain the existing (at the time) livery: Last edited by Peter Agatsiotis; 22nd July 2010 at 05:35 PM. |

Hi Lee,
Thanks for your feedback and perspective. I was aware of the rationale to update the roo due to the A380's proportions. I don't like the new livery nor the A380, so I will just have to build a bridge and get over it I feel safe raising my issues in this forum, knowing that we do respect one anothers point of view. Cheers!

This argument has ran its race. Anytime anything changes some will like it and others will not.
At the end of the day, Qantas has one of the most recognisable brands in the world, certainly the aviation world. Why would they want to significantly change it and have to start all over again? Although in support of Nadia, if you can't 'vent-your-spleen' here then where can you? Cheers M |
