According to Lloyd's post #28 of this thread, Virgin has scheduled into service the second Max from 11 September and the third Max from 9 October. Always subject to change of course.

Hopefully, one of Virgin's Max fuselages didn't end up in a Montana river or is affected by the closure of the rail line that is used to transport them to Boeing for assembly.

Interesting that in the last two Virgin Australia newsroom media releases there is no mention of a 737 Max. It is referred to as a 737-8, with the rest of the 737s as either 737-800 or 737-800NG.

Is Ms Hrdlicka not willing to call it a 737 Max? Should we change the name of this thread?

It's 100% being branded as a 737-8 by Virgin - https://www.virginaustralia.com/au/e...-us/our-fleet/

it's even written on the aircraft - https://imgur.com/a/jp4hoqE

In the MAX series. I'm not sure how this is "dropping the Max tag"? https://www.boeing.com/commercial/737max/

Ryan Air simply renamed the type to a "200" series.
