Default Takeoffs and landings.

I was at Botany Bay on Sunday, around 1pm when I noticed an unusual occurrence regarding takeoff and landing directions.
The inbound flights were landing on runway 34L, after coming in over Botany Bay. There were also planes taking off on the third runway, 16L, also over Botany Bay, and banking left shortly after takeoff to ensure a good distance from the incoming flights on the main runway.
There were calm wind conditions at the time, so it wouldn't be a problem for the planes, but I have never seen this happen before.
Has anybody else ever witnessed this?

Exactly. Light breeze, means that departures over the eastern suburbs on 34R can be avoided.

Thanks Tristan. Got to be accurate as it doesn't make much sense without the word Parallel in there.

Thanks for the answers everybody. By the way, what is the best way to post photo's on this sight. It's been ages since I have done so, and copy and paste didn't do it, so what is the norm these days? Thanks in advance.

Use the insert image function, or some link to their flickr pages (thanks Lloyd!)

Yes, there are some "icons" above the white text box (where I am typing right now) when you post comments here. These icons include things like 'Insert Link' or 'Insert Image'. Use the Insert Image tab.
