Do we know why they are going to Melbourne ?

The previous VARA A320's went straight to Perth.

Also I don't think (could be wrong) that they have been painted in VARA livery as yet ?

I can see in the history of the existing VARA 320s, that they have spent a week or two here and there in MEL on what don't appear to be RPT flights, so I would guess there is some level of maintenance done in MEL?
VH-VNP PER MEL PER VA9927/26 06JAN22 12JAN22
VH-VNB PER MEL PER VA9927/26 30JAN22 20FEB22

EDIT
A quick Google and I found: https://www.aviat.com.au/aircraft-maintenance-2/ .. a maintenance company in MEL.. there is even a shot of a VARA A320 on the site.

Looking at Aviat a bit further, they performed a gear swing check on XFC before it was ferried out of MEL.

It looks as though the return has been cancelled.

Enroute and on decent into BNE now. An interesting flight profile maintaining 15,000ft for over 30 minutes and speed at times well below 200kts. Possibly checking out the aircraft on its return from TSV prior to commencing services for Virgin?

VH-FZI was deleted from VH-Reg on 17/03/22 after being broken up in Singapore.
