Default Malaysian MH132 flys in wrong direction

Malaysian Airlines MH132 took off from Auckland on a flight to Kuala Lumpur when a few minutes into the flight the pilot called ATC to query why he was flying south towards Melbourne instead of north to Kuala Lumpur.

And ATC replied "Well sir, you're the one with the controls in your hands!"

Just as well ATC didn't ask the pilot for his altitude and current position, as he may have responded, "12,000ft and in the front seat".

To be fair to the crew the airline filed a different flight plan to ATC to what the crew had.
